Safety Tips

SVEC provides electrical safety presentations to school and community organizations on request. Please contact Member Services to schedule a presentation for your group.

Electricity is a clean and efficient source of energy that is readily available. However, if used incorrectly, it can be fatal. Occasionally a hazardous situation may occur involving utility lines. If you notice any of the following situations or any other situation you feel could be hazardous, call our office at 530/233-3511,

DO NOT GO NEAR THE UTILITY LINES!

Each year, people are injured or killed in accidents involving electricity; many involve CB or TV antennas, aluminum sprinkler pipes and farm equipment. The tragic thing is these accidents can be prevented. SVEC attempts to place power lines in a safe location, but we need your help. Take time to notice where electric lines are BEFORE installing antennas or gutters. Antennas for televisions, CB's or ham radios can fall across electric lines. Look up before raising aluminum sprinkler pipes. Never use a metal ladder when working near electric lines.
