Annual

Membership

Meeting

SVEC holds it's Annual Membership Meeting the first Saturday following Labor Day in September.  As a Member of the Cooperative we encourage you to attend the meeting to learn more about your cooperative and to elect the Board of Directors.

VOTING FOR DIRECTORS

There are two ways that you may vote for the Board of Directors.

~ In person at the Membership meeting you may have the opportunity to vote.

~ By proxy.  In August you will receive a proxy with your bill that will enable you to vote if you are unable to attend the Membership Meeting.  Complete the proxy and return it to the SVEC office before the date of the Membership Meeting.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

SVEC is governed by a seven member Board of Directors.  The Directors are elected to their position from the membership, and serve three-year terms.  The Cooperative is divided into seven districts, approximately equal in population, and one director is elected from each district.

Directors serve without salary but receive a fee and expenses for attending board and other designated meetings. You, as a Member, are eligible to be elected and serve as a director.

NOMINATION OF DIRECTORS

There are three methods of making nominations to the Board of Directors.

  1. The nominating committee, which is appointed by the Board of Directors, shall nominate one or more Members to each Directorate.
  2. Any thirty (30) or more Members of the Cooperative may make nominations by petition.  Petitions must be filed not less than 45 days prior to the annual meeting.
  3. Additional nominations can be made from the floor at the Membership Meeting.

Section 4.06 of the SVEC By-laws sets forth the methods of nomination to the Board of Directors.
