TOLL FREE 1-866-THE-CO-OP (843-2667)
SVEC provides 24-hour emergency service to all customers. To assure you of this service, crew members are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In the event of a service failure, our crews will work to locate and correct the problem as quickly as possible.
METER TESTS
It is not uncommon for Members to call with concerns regarding a bill they believe to be too high. These calls are more common during the late fall and winter with the onslaught of cold weather - although a few such calls are received on an almost daily basis. Some people think their meter must be running too fast and request that it be checked. SVEC tests and inspects its meters to insure a high standard of accuracy. We will, upon a reasonable request, test any customer's meter. If the meter is found, upon test, to deviate more than 2% under normal conditions of the customer's electric load, the customer's billing will be adjusted (up or down) for a maximum of 12 months to reflect the correction. No charge will be made to the customer for this test.
Meters are tested, side-by-side with a pre-tested meter. It is extremely rare to find a meter that is running fast. More commonly, as meters get older they get slower.
RADIO AND TV RECEPTION INTERFERENCE
We will investigate reports of interference to radio and television reception, and will take action to correct the interference, provided the interference is caused by SVEC facilities. However, we will not repair or replace any defective part of any radio or television, nor will we perform repair or replacement services on any customer-owned appliance.

OUTDOOR SECURITY LIGHTING
In addition to public street lighting, you may arrange for private outdoor lighting. You must sign a 3-year contract and pay a monthly charge for this service. Call our office for more information.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Rules and regulations pursuant to SVEC By-laws are available upon request. These policies are binding on all members of SVEC and are part of all oral or written contracts for furnishing and receiving electric service.
TREE TRIMMING AND REMOVAL
We will trim trees or other obstructions that interfere with the operation or maintenance of SVEC equipment. This service helps protect customers by preventing branches from causing power failures and may avoid lines breaking during storms. Remember that it's always a good idea to plant trees away from power lines. Trimming performed by SVEC crews will be cleaned up after their trimming is completed. However, cleanup of fallen trees caused by storms becomes the responsibility of the customer after SVEC has removed the branches from the power line. If you are planning to trim or remove a tree near the electrical power lines, please give us a call so the service can be disconnected and let down.
UNDERGROUND LOCATES
Are you planning to build a fence or dig in your yard? Underground wires or pipes might be buried there. Contact with electric wires is extremely dangerous. Also, damage to wires, TV cable, phone lines, and water pipes can be expensive to repair. Remember, before you dig, call the SVEC office at 530/233-3511 to request a free locate on SVEC wires. There may be a fee for locating your own wires.
